I know HP, Toshiba can be serviced at BestBuy, CompUSA, and Radio Shack with no warranty being voided.

Is there a place for Sony?

I figure I'll pay, ugh, for them to install a new HDD so I don't void out the warranty. I really want to keep the 5 Year Extended Warranty after what I've been reading about the SZ's.

I'll personally do the RAM since that's a simple swap. And if it needs servicing, swap with the original 512MB.

As far as I know swapping the HD's doesn't void your warranty..

^Swapping a HDD on a SZ might I would think.

It's overly complicated that involves removing lots of parts, and theres two stickers that lock the HDD onto the SATA reader. Stickers for tampering I'd think.

Regardless, I'm going to ask Sony later today when they open up their lines. If they say it voids it, I'd rather have a store install it, even though I could.

True if there are stickers on it, I would definitely ask Sony directly if it will void the warranty.
