    Hey,
I am using my cr notebook with Xp installed. I installed all the drivers, and most of them work fine...

But, I have problem with my mic. It definitely works, but I need to speak very loud into it for someone to hear me, whereas in Vista it worked perfectly fine.
Is there a solution for this or should I just give it up?

Also, I never thought I would get more battery life with vista than with xp...
In fact that shouldn't be true, but that's just the way it appears to be on my cr.

I can go to 3:15 hours with vista
    and 2:40 hours with xp

Am I the only one expriencing this?

P.S. by the way I installed the vaio power management, which works...and still the same results with the battery life after configuring the maximum battery profile...

Will we ever get the brightness work on our cr?

I installed all the drivers from this site:
    http://www.sony-asia.com/support/download/224713/sectionfirst?site=hp_en_AP_i&subpage=detail

So, you will get everything working except AV-MOde, proper functioning of MIC which I described on the first post, and brighness if you have intel x3100 video card. You will also have less battery life with XP.

That's all I could do, again, if there's someone who knows how to fix any of the problems I listed, please help.

have you checked the USA drivers site recently? Sony has updated drivers and bios. HOWEVER i believe they are still making note of brightness not functioning. The reduced battery life is due to a flaw in the camera, in which it is always being powered *you dont see the light on* at all times. Feel the area on the lid behind the camera to confirm this. RUn your webcam on vista and u'll notice a decrease in battery life too.

I get the feeling it'll be a little while before brightness will work.

Yeah, I've read on the sony site about the camera driver, but still don't know how to fix it :)
And yes, i've checked the us site, the drivers they are offering are crap. They do provide them to provide basic functionality under XP, so the I actually already have a much better package of drivers.

yeah i just tested out all the xp released items on the website and its all junk...still missing basic drivers that the asia site has too.
SIGH. the rep even assured me things would work fine too. Guess he didnt know too much. hah. What a waste of time that was.
And now with news of Windows 7 being released in 2010, microsoft really can just take their OS and...

They would have been totally better off just trying to sell xp second edition and then released windows 7 in 2010.
