Hi,
I was wondering if anybody knows if there is a Sony equivalent of Dell's Media Direct 2.0?
I installed VAIO Zone, but that is just like Windows Media Center. I was looking for something you could boot into. Anybody know something like this?
Thanks

So, nobody has heard about something like this?
-
never heard of it.

Do you mean play media file, dvd or cd without boot your windows.like dvd.
-
I think the TX has this feature, doesn't it? Or something like it? -
Yes,
Dell's Media Direct 2.0 allows you to press a button and boot into another OS similar to Windows Media Center. Therefore, it boots a lot faster and allows you to play music, video and photos and any CD or DVD.
So the TX has a feature like this, I will check it out. -
I'm not 100% sure about this (maybe someone else can help?) but I think the TX might be able to play media (DVDs, etc) without booting at all. Is this true? Or does it also boot into an OS?
The advantage would be battery life. If it boots into a different OS it would be faster than a regular boot, but it would still suck up battery power. If it can play media without booting at all, it would be faster than booting AND it would save a lot of battery juice. -
Apparently, the VAIO TX Series has something called Instant mode:
"The VAIO® TX Notebook with Sony's ingenious Instant Mode allows you to go straight to watching a movie, playing music, or viewing photos at the touch of a button, without having to boot-up the operating system. Convenient, built-in A/V control buttons let you stop, play, fast, forward, reverse, eject, mute, and control volume with one-touch ease."
Anybody with a TX knows how to install this? -
can any body correct me? -
Limpman, I think you are right because everytime I run the installer for intervideo instant on it fails. Even when I extract the original installer it still does not work.
I guess it is not possible.
