Does Sony have any discount programs similar to Lenovo, e.g. friends and family and shareholder? Thanks!

In the US they often give 10% if you take an extended service contract. At that point the 10% is about equivalent to the cost of the contract. But if you don't want the extra warranty you can "return" it a couple of weeks later and they'll refund that portion of it.

You have to explicitly ask for the discount.

For friends and family the Sony employee that you know has to get login credentials to Sony's website. After you get this, you can get 12% off on all Sony Vaio computers and roughly the same amount or more discount on accessories.

Just FYI, the discount works on all other Sony products (and you can enjoy more than 12% on other products) but it doesn't work on the Playstation division.
