Okay.. so I'm starting to fall in love with the sony S170.. it is a beautiful sight to behold.. haven't met her in person yet though.. must do that soon.

Anywho.. went to the sonystyle website.. if you into notebooks, and the s series, it says the S170 starts at $1499 (of course this is basic basic setup).. no prob..

So, then I went through Sony's Education prices website.. and the SAME notebook (same specs, everything) starts at $1569!! What the f***??

The ONLY difference between the two is that the non educational ships with XP Home (this is the basic setup, obviously this can be upgraded for $100), whereas the Educational ships with XP PRO.. all the other upgrade prices are all exactly the same!! so, what? I get $30 off XP Pro?? That's it!!??

very confused.. anyone knows whats up with this?

Sony doesn't have an educational 'discount' as far as I can tell from the website. They offer 'educational solutions.'

And, XP Pro costs more than XP Home, so I'm guessing that there's the price difference.
