I'm considering buying this computer and I am just wondering if the Sony F series screen is a LED LCD? I tried looking it up on Sony's website but it only states the size and the resolution of the screen. If it's not it wouldn't be a deal breaker, I'll still buy it. Also how is the screen quality when playing games and watching blu-ray movies? I'm pretty sure that it's great but I want to hear your opinions.

The standard 1600x900 and 1920x1080 displays are not LED. They are single lamp displays.

Europe and Asia offers a matte 1920x1080 display if you purchase the 'Premium' model and is the best screen you'll get from the F series. Not available in North America though.

The standard F displays suffer from a narrow vertical viewing angle but once you find the sweetspot, the colors are great. There is also some amount of light bleed at the bottom of the screen when viewing on a dark background. It seems to vary from screen to screen and unfortunately you'll either get a screen with minimal light bleed or a defective one with a lot of light bleed.

The premium matte display seems to have a much better vertical viewing angle and does not suffer greatly from light bleed issues.

You should check out the F owners thread to do your screen research. Better yet, see it in person and decide for yourself.

As for blu ray movies, again, if your viewing angle is set properly, it looks amazing. If your viewing angle is off, then the picture is inverted and washed out. You'll have to adjust the tilt of your screen more often with this laptop than with others.
