The FW has the same FullHD screen if I remember correctly so the F only has the newer quad CPUs and the faster RAM but the FW is way nicer-looking. If I were to buy a 16" laptop from Sony now, I'd still get the FW over the F without even thinking.

Between the two, unless you are professionally encoding video or very intensive tasks like that, you won't notice a difference in the RAM between DDR2 and DDR3. Personally I'd go with the FW. The ATI HD4650 with the Intel Core 2 Duo P-series was a match made in heaven.

Why don't you look at the specs? FW's don't come with backlit KB.

I think you mean the new F-series. They don't make the FW anymore, but retailers still have new ones that haven't been sold yet though. Btw.. a backlit KB isn't the end of the world, it's just a nice feature to have sometimes... I'd like to at least be able to add one on a BTO model though too.

Bear in mind that FW has volume buttons. F doesn't have them.

One uses older technology, the other uses newer technology, so I'd say there are clear and vast differences between them. So it's really up to you which one suits your needs best.

I think the new F (and new Sony laptops that i saw lately) has the volume button integrated into the function buttons..

Unless maximum performance is no.1 priority and you want to be a sony test user i wouldnt pay the premium for the f11. I would snap up a FW for under $1000. #

The i7 in the VPC F11 runs hot and it has terrible battery life compared to P series chips. I would wait until sony irons out all the defects and intel releases a second gen AND cooler runningi7.

the F11 does not get hot at all. I've owned two already running the i7-820qm
At hardware intensive programs such as autocad and 3ds max, it just feels somewhat warm.

Besides the comparison between them, I tested F series in Bestbuy offline store. If you press any key around numberic pad, the top frame is moving down little bit along with the finger pressure. This could be a common problem, but I didn't find this problem in CW or FW series.

I usually go to the offline store and test keyboard typing, temperature and finger pressure problem before purchasing any in the online market. This works well.
