I own a Sony VPCF122FX/H now for a little over a year. Since I came back from Christmas vacation my screen hasn't been working correctly. White and black colors show up just fine, but everything colorful has a smearing effect to it. I assumed that the laptop was dropped. I don't see any damage to the laptop body or the screen itself, but i have seen similar visual effect on an HP laptop that was dropped before. I will post pictures of the screen in a few hours, but in the mean time I was wondering if anybody could give me some suggestions on how to troubleshoot whether this is a screen or video card issue. When I connect an HDMI cable, external display works just fine, which makes me lean heavily towards screen being broken. Before I order a new display I would like to ask you guys for some advice. Can you suggest anything else for me to try to narrow down the issue to screen being damaged?
