Will there ever be a new release of the FJ I really liked the 14'' screen its not too big and not too small, and the design of the FJ was really nice...

The direct replacement for the FJ was the C series. The C moved the Sony budget line closer to the S/SZ from the FS/FE, of which the FJ shared most parts. This enabled it to add the N series.
Pretty much, they split the FJ into two lines. If you want a larger screen, go for the N, if you want a more portable laptop, get the C. It works pretty well, because I think those are two of the most popular lines right now in the retail stores, whereas the FJ didnt sell at all.

bummer, the C-series nice but the screen is not on par with regular sony screens - it seems darker and harder to look...oh well,

In the laptop world, as with just about anything else, you do get what you pay for. The Sony C-series is a budget-level offering--so they had to cut costs somewhere.

Well......both the N series and the FJ were also budget offerings, being the same price or lower than the C series, and the FJ has one of the best screens in the business, and so does the N series.
The C is admittedly quite dark, and I dont know why. Even the SZ seems a bit dark for Sony standards, but with LED backlighting (premium model) its pretty bright. I dont think that the fact that the LCD is rather dark sway me away from the C series though, its a pretty good laptop otherwise, in terms of specs, price, quality. Also, it may well be my next notebook if my parents have their way, though I would rather have something not made by Sony for a change.
