Sony FS570 where can I download the hotkey utility

Just bought FS570, reinstall Windows XP Pro there and didn't realize that the laptop doesn't come with any recovery cd like it's used to be. Now, I am looking for SONY Hotkey Utility where I can control brightness, volume, etc by pressing Fn keys. I was trying to download, but didn't find any.

1. can i download hotkey utility from other VAIO models?
2. if not, anyone here can burn me the software? i'll pay by paypal.

Have you had any luck on this yet? I just upgraded my FS570 from xp home to xp pro, and am in the same boat. However, I even created the recovery cds ahead of time, and the hotkey utility is not listed in the group of apps.

I went through chat support for about 1/2 hour, and was eventually told I'd have to call. I'm actually wondering if it's not hotkey that controls the 570 function keys or something. I'm still looking in to it further, but it seems I'd at least still have the hotkey folder under program filessony, like my other sony laptop, if it was ever here.

I'll probably work on this a bit more tonight, and then call tech support tomorrow if I don't come up with anything, but thought I'd check in to see whether you got anywhere. Thanks.

after xp installed, insert the disc then there is application shows sony applications and let you choose which application you'd like to install. there you install the hotkey thing. let me know how it goes.

 

My problem is that even though I had the recovery disk properly created, the hotkey utility wasn't in the app list! I did find it on another sony, get it extracted, and things are working happily now. Drop me an e-mail and I can send you that utility...

Hi, guys

I'm having the same problem. I've recently purchased a Sony Vaio PCG-GRX700. When I tried to perform a clean install of Windows XP Pro, I found out that I could not install Hotkey utilities in order to control brightness and sound volume. So, I got in touch with Sony tech support. Much to my surprise, they told me that you cannot download those applications. He said "If you want, you can upgrade your existing Win XP Home". I have the system and application recovery CD's (6 CD's) with which you can fully recover your shipped applications.

So...Can any of you help me in this matter? I'd like to perform a full CLEAN install of Windows XP Pro and then be able to control LCD brightness and sound volume.

PS: By the way, Sony tech support sucks. I'll never buy a Sony Vaio Notebook again.

Go to SONY website, it's called SONY NOTEBOOK UTILITIES. it works!

Hi. I've got a sony fs570 and have a different problem. I cannot readjust the screen resolution so that the print on the display enlarges. When I go to properties and select the lowest resolution it just shrinks the display; does not enlarge the print. I find this tiring for woking...would like to be able to enlage. Anyone know how to do this on this model?
