I've ordered a Sony FW-490 CTO off of the Sony Style website, after reading about the problems with the full hd screen and text size problems I began to worry if I made a mistake by getting the FULLhd rather than the eco, as I am using this computer for casual gaming, school work and occasional photoshop (learning)

If I have a problem with the FULLhd would I beable to send my Computer back and get another laptop with the same specs but the ECO screen?

My CTO is configured like this:

If you read the SonyStyle order site carefully, you will see that they basically pair the 1 GB of VRAM with the FullHD and the 512 MB with the Eco.

Just relax and use the zoom feature for text and reduce the resolution for gaming and you will be happy with your FW.

I don't understand why anyone would go for a lower resolution just because the text will be smaller? You can change the theme settings to use extra large fonts, you can increase icon size as well as the text under them. You can also increase browser text size (ctrl and the + sign).

Now you can watch blu rays at full 1080p and be happy that you got the better screen.

The screen is your primary interface with the computer (next to the keyboard). Why not get the best you can - the full HD is just amazing - text size can be adjusted, go with the better screen.

I have the FW490 with the FullHD screen. It works great and it is easy to change the font size. No problems with the higher resolution.

I had the FW290 with the FullHD display. FOnt size was never an issue.

However, my wife hated it and went with a 1440x900 17" HP (ugh!). This is definitely a personal preference issue.

I can say I prefer the look of the FullHD display over the ECO screen any day.

    Cheers,
