    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...1c3grabb3r-_-Notebooks-_-Sony+VAIO-_-34117792

I was thinking about getting a Dell XPS 1530 or a HP dv5, then I saw this deal today and just threw my whole decision process in the trash.

The only issue I have is that it is 16 inches. I really don't want to go over 15inches on my next laptop, but man this is a great deal. The processor, amount of RAM are great for the price. I mean its $995 SHIPPED!

I play WOW and am going to play the explansion pack when it comes out. I don't need something that blows my mind when it comes to gaming on my laptop, I have a desktop for that. Just wondering if the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470 will run WOW comfortably, as well as the expansion pack when it comes out.

Thanks for the input Sony users!

Wow... nice deal. I really wish Newegg had an FW with a HiColor screen!

    Go for the sony.
1" larger screen probably isn't to bad+You will get this within a few days. With Dell/HP you'll have to wait a long time for it to be built and shipped.

get the FW...I did. lol. But if your concern is the screen size...the actual length of the FW is just under an inch longer. its actually not that bad.

Should have no problem with WOW, although for more demanding gaming XPS 1530 is better equipped -- but with the nVidia video card situation I would play safe and go with ATI in the FW right now.

By the way, this one is availabe at BestBuy for $999.99+tax till Saturday, so you can get a feel for it in person at BestBuy and then come back to order from newegg. If you don't like neweg's return policy, you can get it at BestBuy.

WoW is not graphically demanding, so any current dedicated GPU would be sufficient to run the game.

Btw, out of the 3, my vote goes to the the Sony FW :)

heres my take on it. I chose the FW over the hp and m1530 for the following reasons:

    1. I'm NOT a heavy gamer, don't need a highend GPU a low-mid range GPU is more that suffice for me as i was goin to do video and picture editing.

    m1530:
    1. It has a faulty gpu i don't need.
    2. Horrible cooling system + faulty gpu = not a nice picture.
    3. LED is a nice option, but the screen is not as bright and color reproduction isn't as good as HiColor.

    HP:
    1. cheap plastic case.
    2. temps ranging any where from 90 to 120 very randomly. I'd rather not have that.
    3. takes extreme luck to get a decent screen from hp.

    Is this a typo?

I just think you get pretty good bang for the buck in the FW. From what I read the video card isn't amazing, but it will get the job done for me (WOW).

Not at all, the not is there now, srry about that.

The 3470 does very well for video and picture editing. In most cases the quality of the editing goes down to the quality of screen and the power of the CPU. If your doing high end video editing you want to atleast get the T9500, but most of mine are just home videos and probably encoded in mpeg2 or xvid .avi and some mkv so a P8600 is more than powerful enough.

the high end GPUs are for demanding games, and i don't play demanding games, thats what i have widescreen hd bravia + PS3 and Wii for.

What kind of settings should I expect to be able to run WOW at with this set up. I know WOW isn't demanding graphics wise.

EDIT: Nevermind the deal is gone.

Deal is back for $989.99 shipped. WOW! The only thing holding me back is that its 16 inches. Portability vs comfortable screen...hmmm cant decide!

It's slightly wider, but it's relatively light - I don't think you'll feel much of a strain. I was surprised at how light it felt when I tried it out at the local Sony Style.
