    Well,

    Core 2 Duo T9800 - 2.93 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB, 6 MB of L2 cache, TDP 35W
    Core 2 Duo T9550 - 2.66 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB, 6 MB of L2 cache, TDP 35W
    P9600 Core 2 Duo - 2.66 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB, 6 MB of L2 cache, TDP 25W
    P8700 Core 2 Duo - 2.53 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB, 3 MB of L2 cache, TDP 25W

    Front Side Bus Speed:
    1066MHz (T9800, T9550, P8700, P8600 )
    800MHz (T6400)
    L2 Cache:
    6 MB Cache (T9800, T9550)
    3 MB (P8700, P8600)
    2 MB (T6400)

I needed more power, even though the T9550 using 35W, I always use power cord anyway, so not worrying so much about battery life decrease about 10 mins.

That's weird. Why did Sony replace the T9400 with the P8700. The T9400 has 6 MB of cache, while the P8700 only 3 MB.

Anyone know what to expect running XP on this? Kind of an important question as to whether I can recommend it to someone who will probably want to run XP on it.

3650 is pretty decent. Sure it's not top-of-the-line, but it'll run any game out there, and a lot of them on medium-high or high settings. What's more impressive is that it's in the $800 model.

Probably less expensive. I don't think the T9550 upgrade for $150 and 133 MHz, even with the L2, is worth it myself, but it's a lot better than the whole $600 upgrade to top-of-the-line.
