I apologize for this waste of precious forum space, but I'm afraid my excitement can no longer be contained.

Sony gave me an estimated shipping arrival date on the 26th, but they shipped earlier than expected and now it's set to arrive on the 21st.

    I could pee myself...too late.

It just left San Diego last night. *Squeals like a pathetic fan boy*

Does the laptop wobble with the extended battery? I see it's not in the center.

I couldn't see from the pics, but is the hard drive easily accessable from the bottom of the unit? I want to replace the 5400 rpm drive with a 7200 rpm seagete.

I'm considering the same procedure. As for the battery's bulkiness, it did take me by surprise in that photo. I'm not too worried however, I haven't minded typing at a tilt in the past. Even if I don't, I'll simply buy a normal battery and the extended one will remain useful for traveling.

I do not live in the US and my Vaio FZ 190 CTO was ordered at Sony´s website and sent to an US address from where it was just shipped to my country. It is now on the way and prior its arrival I need to register the number (similar to a serial nr.) that is printed in a label fixed at the bottom of the notebook. Because of local bureaucracy it is mandatory to inform this number prior its arrival.

They sent me 5 (five) numbers that are printed at Sony's label attached to the external surface of the original box where everything is packed in (actually the 3rd. and 5th. of these numbers are the same). I guess that one of this numbers is the one printed and attached under the notebook. It is imperative to know which one.

Can somebody PLEASE clarify which of this numbers is the one printed in the label fixed at the bottom of the unit?

    Thanks

The second number on the box is the same as the "serial number" on the bottom of the machine. However on the box it has "S01" in front of it and an "X" at the end. These do NOT appear on the label on the bottom.

The third number on the box corresponds to the "Product Code" on the bottom of the machine. On the box it has a "C" in front of it and an "X" after it.

The fourth number on the box is IDENTICAL to the "Service Tag" number on the bottom of the machine.

I see nothing on the bottom that corresponds to either the first or fifth numbers on the box.

    Thank you so much Gary.
Just, please, clarify me if the "C" and "X" of the 3rd. number of the box does appear or not on the "Product Code" label of the bottom of the machine.
I am so glad with your reply since someone mentioned that the "serial number" on the bottom of the machine was the 3rd number of the box, and not the 2nd. number as you mentioned.
    Thanks again.

Sorry. On the third number the C and X are on the box but NOT on the bottom of the machine.

According to the message (posted 07-11-2007):
    - the 2nd. number on the box (in the box it have an “S01” in front and an “X” at the end) is the same as the "serial number" on the bottom of the machine;
    - the 3rd. number on the box (in the box it have an “C” in front and an “X” at the end) corresponds to the "Product Code" on the bottom of the machine.
I kindly ask you to please double check if this is correct. People here who take care of the formalities wonder if it might be the opposite way, the 2nd. # is the “Product Code” and the 3rd. # the “Serial Number”.
I REALLY NEED to clarify this detail ASAP.
    Thanks and regards.

It is exactly as I originally stated. The 2nd number on MY label (the one with "bookended" by an S01 and an X) is the SERIAL number. The 3rd number (the one bookended by a C and an X) is the Product code.

I ordered mine yesterday from newegg here.

Looks like it comes with the standard battery though. Does anyone know or have benchmarks on how long the larger battery lasts on this machine? Maybe I will buy it if it's worth it.

Please post how it is once you receive it.

I'm planning to buy it as well.
