I really like the 290 FZ but I cannot establish if it will be strong enough for my needs. Sony tells me that it is a entertainment PC in a a small, portable package.
I use photoshop, not excessivley, but is mostly open at all times. Along with msn and internet.

Do you think the FZ (with vista and plenty of power etc) willl be okay for my needs?

seems crazy to me to get a blu-ray player and then have a screen that is less than 1920x1080 resolution...

There are apparently some issues with the Nvidia 8400 cards and Photoshop. There is a thread here about that very problem. It seems to occur on other laptops as well. You might want to check into that a bit before you order. I don't use Photoshop myself and have only seen this ONE thread on the topic, but thought I'd give you a "heads up" nonetheless, just in case it IS an issue that might affect you latter.

Thats why there is an HDMI output included ;) . If you want to watch full HD movies then your'd have to get a 17 laptop. Just imagine a 1920x1080 resolution (or similiar) on a 15" laptop when using for normal use, which = very strained eyes.

^not for people who know their way around windows... all of the desktop icon size settings can be customized, and almost ALL programs have a scaling feature... bottom line, more pixels are better :D...
