    Hi

Got a Sony VGN-FZ11S today with HDMI out running Vista Home Premium and have hooked it up to my Marantz 2600 Amp via HDMI.

I get video and sound through the HDMI but I cant get 5.1 ..I've checked the sound options in control panel and it only gives me the option of stereo speakers but if I run the tests for DD ot DTS it plays sound though all my speakers. when I play DVD's using power dvd it tells me its outputing 5.1 but my amp is only recieving 2 channels.

I know the amp can do 5.1 over hdmi as it does it from my PS3

it seems Vista refuses to see any other speaker set up other than the two built in speakers and therefore wont output

    laptop hdmi is 1.2 btw

    any suggestions ?

    Thanks

I'm not 100% sure if the HDMI port on a laptop supports audio...I've been reading that some do not on these forums.

If I test sound for DD and DTS I get sound thru all my speakers so it must support it

Update : the hdmi play 5.1 fine using windvd ...the problem is with powerdvd only not outputing 5.1.

It say its not using the hdmi for sound but it is because its outputting 2 channels via hdmi ..i've logged a call with cyberlink but am not holding my breath
