So i just bought a sony FZ-160 and like the 3rd day i have it life gets good.....i get an error..after that the laptop will start and work fine on battery power but will not load windows on AC power and if u plug it in AC power while already in windows on battery it will restart and not load.... sent it back to repair and i really have a feeling they wont be able to fix it cuz i've never seen such a problem. they said 7-10 days after which i'm travelling, so hopefully they'll get it back??
anyone ever heard of such a problem??? do sony stick to their time estimates??? i called them and asked for a replacement and they said they have to determine that its unfixable....what do u think???

Since the system was just puchased, I would recommend returning it and getting a brand new one.
-
the shop won't return laptops once the hard drive has been initialized or something like that...and they said that "sony sticks to their products and insists that all faults be handled through them"....so said they fill fix it or replace it within 7-10 days............... but has anyone heard of the this problem?? and what are your expieriences with sony repairs??? punctual???
-
I'd say to not count on that date.
However, they should definately take a return. If you'd have called back again, I'll bet they would have said they would take it back. They are really inconsistant. I returned mine the day after I got it (After I booted up Vista and uninstalled all their bloatware). -
Where did you buy it from? Don't Sony have a 30 day refund policy?
-
i bought it online at J&R in new york which had good reviews... i dont know what went wrong...
-
so i got my laptop back today...they changed the chip for the power supply on the computer or whatever...which sounds pretty logical to me.... i mean it was only screwing up on AC power..... i still didnt try it tho..i'm at work...but i'm curious to know what u guys think??
-
Not sure if there is chip for the power supply...Maybe they just gave you a new power supply. Try it when you get home and see how it works. If you still have problems, go and get a new one since you are well within your return period.

GoSensGo,
He is talking about the power supply INSIDE the machine. The device you plug into the wall is only a transformer and AC to DC converter. It is not really a power supply per se.

Their time estimate is believable. They will call you if they are unable to repair ur notebook.
-
ok...so i got it back in 7 days of their recieve date.....which is good...they said 7-10 days.... and yeah...i meant the power supply inside the computer, not the AC adapter...anyway i tried it and it worked....lets hope it stays that way.... or else!!! lol ..... last time it screwed up on like the 3rd day... soooo............. but should be fine now...
