Not sure if I can return and get a new one; but my laptop is running ridiculously hot and nothing is happening. Just surfing the net and talking on trillian.

My GPU temp is 80 degrees celsius, CPU at 75 celsius and when I touch the bottom left corner near the Blu-ray, FULLHD1080 and dlna stickers. Underneath it's really hot that I can't leave my hand under it for more than a couple seconds. It's pretty hot.

Not sure if it's normal or not. I have my laptop raised off the corners by about and inch, and the fans or anything is being obstructed. The temp in the house is around 70 degrees. So not sure what is going on.

Try to see what your CPU usage is, by pressing ctrl-alt-del.

It's between 4% and 7%. Firefox seems to use between 3-6%.

Ok then it seems there is something wrong with your computer. I'd bring it back.

Try installing PC Wizard, so you can monitor:CPU activity, HDD temperature, GPU temp, fan activity.

During some heavy duty tasks, I guess temp can go up a bit but it also cool down fast. Normal temp (for easy tasks like surfing, Outlook..) shouldn't be more than 40-50 C . Maybe it's too hot in your room? You can also try to use laptop on batteries and see what's goin on.

I live in Washington, temperature in the room is ~70 degrees Fahrenheit.

Not sure what's going on really. Do you think I can get it replaced by Sony or something?

    How old is the notebook?
    Issit new?

Maybe your exhaust vents are stuffed with dust.

It's fairly new; got it about 2-3 months ago.

What are the temperatures for everyone?

Seems like dust was the culprit =). After I used some compressed air in the slots on the bottom =O, my temps went down to 39 celsius for the CPU, 50 for the GPU, 36 for Hard Drive.

I have a similar problem with the FZ180E. it gets extremely hot on the left side if i do any sort of gaming.. i installed Notebook Hardware Control and it gave me readings that varied from 86-95 while playing a game for a short while. Anyone have any ideas?

oh and on average when surfing the net or doing smaller tasks it runs anywhere from 59* to 67* usually.. never saw it cooler than 58*..

well first i wanted to know if any other FZ180E users experienced the same problem.. i also have a laptop fan, but it's too small to reach all the vents on the bottom of my laptop.. i have not tried cleaning it because i dont have a compressed air can
