Hi, I got my FZ31S in January this year. Battery lasted for 2-3 hours from start, but now it is 15-2o minutes and it's dead. Is that normal?Because now it is unusable without AC. Laptop served as Desktop replacement, so it was plugged in al the time I have been using it. Should I remove the battery while plugged in?Now I suppose I need to buy a new battery, but Sony seems not sell accesories for FZ anymore, where can I get it?
    Thank you for your help

15-20 mins is not normal. I got my FZ this Jan also and my battery last just over 2 hours but I don't leave it in when I use AC power.

I used to keep my FZ21S in whilst the battery was plugged for the majority of the past year. On battery, I used to get around 1.5 hrs on high performance. Now I have the battery removed only for the pure reason that the laptop is always plugged in and the battery adds unneccessary weight.

I recommend completly discharging the battery untill the computer can't turn on, and charging back up. Bascially re-optimizing it and see if that makes any difference.

I'm sure you're still in warrenty, so if you continue to get 15 - 20 mins on battery (whatever power plan), contact Sony and ask for a replacement since this is obviously wrong. Batteries cost around £100 - £200 depending if you get the 6 or 9 cell.

Boot up the computer in bios and leave it on until it shuts down, that way windows wont shut down at like 2%.

Well, I would think about the warranty, but I bought it from Germany and I'm from Slovakia, so sending it would cost me another EUR 50...I rather buy a new battery. I see some on ebay, but I'm not sure about the compatibility. On my battery there is this type shown VGP-BPS8A...And it is 5200 mAh. In shops and auctons I see "SONY VGP-BPS8 Vaio FZ Series 4800mAh Battery", but I worry that it won't fit to my laptop. What do you think?
