Hi I got a laptop that have flickering blacklight and its just over 3 yrs old. The model is PCG-GRT796SP. I fiddle around the inverter and it seems to come up for awhile but dies again.

I've got another laptop which is a Sony SZ1HP which is scrapped for parts. Is it possible to use that inverter instead of buying a new one? Anyone have tried it without setting their laptop on fire? As I assume the capacitors on the 13" cannot handle it, since the other monitor is 15" it will draw much more voltage.

I've taken the inverter out and tried to fit it, not really bothered if it screw up the laptop. But I just don't want to cause injury to myself. Last time I fit a fluroscent tube into my computer it exploded in my hand..

The socket doesn't seems to bit so I'm going to have to rewire the cables. But if anyone got any experience let me know, as if it doesn't work or its hazardous I'll not do it.

    Thanks.

thing is a work laptop, but since the company that r work for are loaded. they dont care about buying spare inverter parts for it. they will just dump the laptop away and buy a brand new top of the range one. i just think its a bit of a waste.

anyone? i might just give it a go, but i'll try stay as far as possible when turning on the laptop.
