I bought a sony vaio eb series laptop online and will receive it today. I did not get it engraved. I read that you can return your laptop within 30 days as long as it isn't engraved. My question is what is the most you can do with the laptop before returning it? I mean if you open the box and see your laptop and don't like how it looks, i can see you can return it.

However, are you allowed to return it if you boot the cd in and set up the computer? What if you download programs and hear some music, are you still allowed to return it? I am assuming you can only return it if you didn't load the windows cds correct?

u can return it within 30 days for mostly any reason. Just don't crack it open(or if you do, don't leave any traces) or damage it.

As I was told, if you send the unit back, they will reformat everything, stick on a new serial#, test the whole unit and resell it as refurbished. I think most users here who have returned their units already installed the system and actually used the computer and had no issues getting a full refund after they had returned it, so don't worry about that.

How much does shipping typically cost? I would assume Fedex is the preferred way correct?

Hey does anyone know how much it cost to ship back to Sony? Also is fedex the preferred method as oppose to ups or usps?

Look at the sites belonging to the separate carriers in regards to shipping costs. You'll find the answer quickly.
