    Hello,

I've just purchased a refurbished Sony Vaio VGN-NW350F. I had recently owned another Sony Vaio which lasted FOREVER and was seemingly indestructible. So I have a good experienced with the brand. My new laptop is only 10 days old.

My problem is when I have the laptop plugged in, the screen dims and is only at full brightness when it is unplugged from the adapter. I would like to have it at full brightness as the default setting. I've read somewhere this is a BIOS setting. I do not have much experience with hardware, I'm looking for some help to find how to properly adjust this setting so I can have my screen at full brightness ... since me laptop is usually plugged it all the time anyway.

Can anyone point me in the direction of how to adjust this setting - or if there are other (perhaps battery) considerations to take into account. I'm just looking to educate myself a little here Thx for your help.

Sounds like a power settings issue. Sometimes there is a BIOS setting that dims the screen on battery but never when plugged in.

Go to control panel->power options and change the plan settings for the power plan you are using. You should then get a screen that allows you set the brightness when "on battery" and when "plugged in". Change these accordingly (e.g. change "plugged in" so it's full brightness), and then save the changes.
