I have a Sony VAIO, Model VGN-SZ330P still running Sony OEM Windows XP.
I am trying to reinstall the Sony MP4 Shared Library. The copy on my VAIO "disappeared" last week when
I was following some instructions given to me by online support that were supposed to fix another problem
not create the MP4 problem.
In my C:\WINDOWS\SONYSYS\logs folder I came across the build.log file from the original instal.
In that file is the following :
[18] Sony MP4 Shared Library
Start Time: 7/22/2006 1:20:22 PM
SITID: 0529003.SNC
Command: d:\0529003.snc\setup.exe -s -SMS
Method: installer
Version Path: %CommonProgramFiles%\sony shared\mp4lib\version.txt
Version: 2.0.00.07071
OK Version verified.
I can not find 0529003.SNC. I have searched through the Applications and Drivers on both my
Recovery DVDs and the Hard Drive Recovery Files.
I copied SONY1P_0620209.PAC from the Recovery DVDs to my hard drive and extracted all files
using the old KCAP.exe software.
There was no 0529003.SNC extracted, but there was 0529203.SNC which just happens to be the
Sony Notebook Utilities installation. I thought that perhaps the Sony Notebook Utilities may
expand during its installation and also instal the MP4 library, so I did a reinstall but there was no
MP4 Library at completion.
Does anyone have any suggestions for me or even better the MP4 instal files?
I know things will work fine as they are now but if the MP4 Shared Library is not installed, the Sony Video
Shared Library will not allow itself to be upgraded to the next release level.
Thanks in advance
John

If any other VAIO user sees their XP Sony MP4 Shared Library disappear, I finally found an install courtesy of a posting detailing the users experience in undoing their Vista install and returning their VAIO to XP.
You can find the XP downgrade utilities including the Sony MP4 Shared Library at ftp://ftp.vaio-link.com/pub/OS/XPDOWNGRADE/SZ4-SZ5/UTILITIES/
