    Hi all,
I hope someone can help. I am going insane... I am trying to find drivers for the Media Gate or Magic Gate (Built in Memory Stick Reader) for my Sony Laptop. I have talked to support and the only answer they give me is that it is built into windows, but they could not find the drivers for me. I have an unknown device under control panels which I believe is the device, but the support group could not help me locate drivers. Does anybody have a resolve?

    Thanks!

All I can say is that with any notebook I've used that has built in card readers, including my Fujitsu which has a MS slot, XP auto detects the drive when I insert the card. If you explore your machine with a card in, you don't see it as an available drive?

Nope, it does not auto detect it. I have reformatted it a couple times and tried XP professional as well. When I talked to Sony support, they indicated it has special drivers, but Sony will not provide them to me. They want me to ship the laptop back to fix it at a cost starting at $275.

Their solution is laughable, though I can't come up with anything better at the moment. It's possible the reader is bad though...have you tried other sticks in it.?
