    So,
I am thinking Sony Vaio. Should I wait for the CS? I did a pre-order config but didn't pull the trigger.

I am wondering about components...specifically, RAM. Why would Sony not go to DDR3? That is the difference that stands out to me (T400(Lenovo) vs. Sony).

Also, I just found the b2b site... and the BZ. I don't think I've seen that before.... anyone with experience there rather than SonyStyle?

Finally, I have read that some owners here have on-site service, but I don't see it as an option when configuring. Do I have to go to a SonyStyle Store? Is there something I am missing?

    Thanks Much

Only certain notebooks offer onsite repair. Also, DDR2 vs. DDR3, there isnt a significant enough performance increase for you to worry about it. In synthetics, the benchmarks are 5-10% increase over DDR2, DDR3 performance wont be substantial until the timings are lowered and more manufacturers work with it. DDR2 is pretty much at it's highest performance, while DDR3 is just beginning to hit the mainstream. In 2-3 years, i would say it will make a huge difference, but today.. meh. 5-10% increase can be had elsewhere from your CPU or a faster HDD, so no worries.

Thank 'ee! I thought the DDR2 DDR3 thing would be something like that.

I am trying not to make too many changes at once here; going to Vista Business (everything I have now is XP Pro) is kinda big. I have toyed with 64 bit, but... :D

The BZ is a sweet machine, built as a business notebook, so you won't see it in your Best Buy or the like.

It's fairly rugged, and for a 15.4" notebook, a decent weight. Magnesium casing, spill proof keyboard and other bells and whistles, I'm actually getting one soon for my day to day work and looking forward to it.

I know the BZ can not be purchased from sony, you have to go through cdw or others like that. It looks like a great laptop, and I also am planning to buy one, when my funds get caught up.

    :)
