Why do Sony stop making stand alone monitor? They have the best quality monitor in the market and I would love to buy Sony stand alone monitor Hi-Color with 16:9 aspect ratio.

Why do they make very few desktop PC? In the late 90s, Sony used to have a lot of variety of desktop PC, but now only one or two with sub-standard features and performance.

I think the reason on both is that they became commodity markets, where the price points didn't leave much room for profit anymore. Notebooks are working their way down there, but there is still some differentiation.
