I move my laptop to two main rooms in my house, and the outlets are in hard to reach places, so it's a pain to move the power adapter when I move around with the laptop. So, I'm looking to purchase a second power adapter for my FW190.

Should I stick with a Sony brand power adapter or does it make a difference?

    Option 1 (Sony brand):
I looked on Sony's website, and my current adapter (VGP-AC19V23) is not available on the Sony website, but they have the VGP-AC19V31 which is the only one capadible with the FW series, so I assume it's the newest version of mine, although I don't know what the difference is between then 23 and the 31 at the end of the model number. The cost of the unit is $89.99 plus tax and shipping.

    Option 2 (third party brand):
I read a bunch of very good reviews on the Cooler Master SNA 95 slim power adapter. It's smaller than the Sony, has 9 universal tips, and the white tip supports Sony brand laptops, and it's got a nice USB power output on the brick itself. It's only $45-$53 plus tax, with free shipping.

    Thanks.

I always prefer official adapters rather than some cheap 3rd party alternative. I know they cost a lot more, but at least you know they will work with your laptop and not cause any issues/damage.
