Is there anyone out there who has used a Sony S1/S2/S3 model (that seems to be S100/S200/S300 for you North American people) who has also used an Asus M5N Centrino Notebook and can give me an opinion on the level of Fan Noise generated by one machine versus the other.
I have here an Asus M5N notebook (12" screen, 1.6ghz Banias Centrino 60GB hard drive, 512MB RAM and 1.5KG weight) on which they have finally agreed a refund because I cannot live with the fan noise issue any longer. It whirrs and whirrs and whirrs at really high revolutions (1600/1700 rpm according to Asus Probe) even when the machine basically isn't doing anything.
Has anyone here had the chance to compare these two back to back in a quiet room environment and is the Sony S3 also horrendously noisy?
If it is can anyone tell me any high spec small widescreen Centrino notebooks that basically run near silently?

I don't actually own a S (which I plan to get one very soon!) but judging by the number of posts complaining fan noises with S200 and S300 series, I'd believe that it is very noticable.
