    Hi everyone,

I live in France and I've been following this forum for a while and I was about to pull the trigger on a Vaio S15 to replace my old Inspiron.

The difference in price when ordering from the European to the US Store led me to figure out a way to order it with a US friend of mine.

However it means qwerty keyboard and I would like to have an azerty one.

So here are the questions :

    - Is it possible to ask Sony US for an azerty keyboard ?
    - If not is it possible to replace the qwerty keyboard of a Vaio S15 (or 13) with an azerty ?

Thanks a lot for your help.

How about swapping the "a" and "q" keys and select FR keyboard layout

Uhm, no. The French layout is different in more ways than just the A, Z and Q keys.
    Take a look here.

Go ahead and try to find the @ sign on a french keyboard or use one of three signs on a single key. It is the reason the Alt Gr key is there.
I am used to the US-style (not the Dutch) QWERTY layout and trying to type something as simple as your e-mail adress on a French keyboard, especially when typing blind, only produces an incomprehensible garble. That is how different it is.

@Lordcamel: There are various laptop-repair shops online that will be able to sell you a replacement keyboards even ion French layout.
However, it seems like it is placed in a form-fitted housing. Note there is no gap between the wristrest and the keys. It is all a single piece.

Compare that to the French layout:

So the answer is no. Not unless you want to get yourself into a whole lot of modding and hunting for replacement parts.

What is the difference in price?
Ever took a look at the Canadian layput?

And if you do go this route, good luck. And be carefull with the keys. Switches can be really difficult to take apart.
