I dont know about the module, but I have used this dongle on both of my Sony notebooks (R505GL and now the FJ170) and it works very good.

YES it is possible! You need to open up the system and get the BT module, antenna wire and a daughter board.

I have the UK models S2XP and S5XP, which are almost equivalent to S270 and S580 bar differences like the keyboard, but are certainly identical when it comes to the components inside.
    The S2XP has BT1.2, and S5XP BT2.0
Both modules look identical but the part number is incremented by one on the BT2.0 version.

I have ripped both computers apart just to see inside, and both BT modules are made by ALPS i.e. ALPS chipset.

    They are class 2.

see pictures here. he upgrades another model of vaio but they all use the same modules.

I will be taking my S5XP apart in a few days and will post pictures of how to add bluetooth.

Refer to this thread, it is for the S2 series but the S5 is very similar. The right side on the S5 varies due to a different motherboard but the left side is almost identical.

Look at the 14th picture on the above thread.

Notice a white rectancle above where the DVD drive is? Just above the right hand end of the dvd ribbon cable..
thats where the BT module sits.

its the same module as in
the siliconpopculture link in my previous post.

but you have to clip on the BT module, from which comes an antenna cable that routes under the dvd drive to the left of the notebook where it clips to a daughter board just below the audio jacks. the S2 and S5 are the same in this respect.
