I had zero interest in the SA, but waiting for the Z is killing me. I went down to my local Microsoft store and was surprised to see the SA with the sheet battery for $1299. They were also offering 10% off the laptop and a free Xbox.
So out the door with the SA, Xbox and a two year accidental damage warranty was just a little bit over $1400 after tax. If you dont.want the warranty, take $199 off that final total.
Argh.. the frickin screen tho! Its not bad at all dead on, but forget about off center.
Just a friendly heads up.

Does anyone think it would be possible to go into this store with my receipt and pick up a free xbox? I bought my SA during the promotion.
Stradevarius -
Yes you can as long as you bought it from thier store.
-
And bring your student ID.
-
They didint even ask. Its not like an Apple store. They just want to.hit numbers for the day. To be honest, I find the MS Store way more accomodating and willing to go the extra mile over any Apple store I have shoped at. And thats alot!
-
Have a student ID, but I bought my SA from the Sony's USA website. Still eligible?
Stradevarius -
Not for instore pickup.
-
The SA isn't on the Microsoft website?
What are the exact specs you get? And do they have multiple colors? -
Its the base Black 2.3 with slice battery and 4gb 500gb. Possibly instore only ATM. Im going to return it though. Maybe I will put it up in the marketplace or ebay.
Performance is great, but I am a screen snob.
Only black stocked in store. -
Wait until you have a problem with the machine. They are great while you buy, but they are definitely not the Genius Bar after you buy. And I hate Apple.
-
Wow... If anyone wants the xbox and is willing to help me get one to Australia I'll definitely want in on this deal... Pretty please?
Someone trusted would be fantastic, I'm new here but have lots of feedback around the internet -
What Microsoft Store location did you get this at? The only one near me is the Oakbrook, IL locaiton, hopefully they have one or can order it. This is a really good deal!
And, is the accidental damage warranty through Sony or the Microsoft Store?
Thanks! -
Just ordered the Sony SA, came with the sheet battery, for $1300. Also got the $200 accidental damage 2 year warranty, it's through the Microsoft Store for reference, and that includes a copy of "student" office (word, PP, excel, one note).
I called in the order and they shipped it out no problem. Shipping was $35 2-day.
Glad I saw this deal, this worked out perfectly! -
I tried for the XBox after ordering from Sony. Unfortunately they told me that it was an in store deal only.
-
Sorry for not checking in. It was the MS store in Scottsdale AZ.
-
Achusaysblessyou eecs geek ftw :D
Of course, only MS, BestBuy, Amazon, HP and Dell are participating in the free Xbox thingy... Sad because my girl just got a Vaio a few weeks ago, but wth, i'd give up an Xbox for Vaio quality any day
-
Oh I don't really care. I was just stopping by the mall anyway and thought I'd give it a shot.
-
Congrats! A good deal. I love my SA25gx. The sheet battery is just awesome - with it the SA is about as heavy and thick as an average laptop and it will last forever with Radeon video turned off.
-
Thanks! I think I will be happy with it, it should arrive today or tomorrow, can't wait to start tinkering with it.
One thing to note for the free x-box deal: I had a code sent to me via email that I provided to the sales rep on the phone, but he still needed a student ID number for confirmation. He may have accepted just the code, but I provided the ID as well to be safe.
