I tried to upgrade my hard drive to a Hitachi 7k320, but my computer does not recognize it. Under BIOS is says "hard drive: none". I checked the the connections and everything is nice and snug. Any suggestions as to what my problem could be? thanks

Try putting the old hard drive back in. Does that work?

Is the Hitachi hard drive brand new? It might be dead on arrival, that is kind of what it sounds like right now.

Do you notice any sounds (clicks, groans, etc) coming from the Hitachi drive when you try turning the laptop on? Or does the hard drive just seem dead?
