Hi, I have a sony vaio sr and I am looking forward in purchasing and upgrading my HD this holiday season... basically what I want is performance/low noise. I want THE FASTEST performance more than lower noise. So what is the best HD for the speed on a sony vaio sr that I can purchase? (I just need more than 120gb space and not extremely loud HD).

If budget is not a problem, why not switch to latest SSD hard drives ?

It will still be there, since it's software-based. Some HDDs come with built-in hdd shock protection too
