    Hi,

Can anyone tell me if a Sony Vaio SZ Led screen, is the same as the SR Led screen, I like to think so, but I'm not sure.

    With kind regards,

    Bart

I think the SZ's screen is/was better, but I'm not sure.

Well one thing is for sure the SZ is less glossy as the SR.

My SZ had a Toshiba screen, a very good one.

Some SRs come with similar high quality screen and others come with lower quality screen with more washed out colors.

Notebookjournal has reviewed SR and SZ. The last SR they reviewed had a display indicated with "MS 0040" and scored quite good. An earlier SR had higher contrast. So it matters a lot what panel you get.

But if you get lucky, SR has the same quality screen as a good SZ.

Thank you for your answers but I don't mean in terms of quality or appearance.

I'm looking to buy a cheap SR with a broken screen, will a SZ screen (premium model with led screen fit), is it compatible with all the cables etc.?

    With kind regards,

    Bart

Haha that's funny. I would think so but I'm not sure.

Perhaps mosey around this site and see if the model part numbers for Sony LCD screens and parts are the same for the screens in your two models: http://www.lcds4less.com/sony-laptop-screens.shtml That site is rich with such data -- I even found the distinct info for the famous dual-lamp HiColor that is on the FW190 model.

    Good luck!

If you'll get original part from Sony, I think it's gonna cost you around 400$.

I already have got a Sony SZ150p but would like to upgrade to a SR, but since I'm not prepared to spend a lot, I'll buy a damaged one, (for instance broken screen) and swap that screen for the SZ150p one, I do have the skills to do this (it ain't that hard), but before I'll buy a damaged SR I would like to now if it's compatible.

If anyone has damaged SR on here and would like to sell it, you can send me an e-mail, it needs to be cheap though.

I believe the SZ150P uses a CCFL screen (which means that it is thicker), while the SR uses a LED screen (which is thinner). You may have a problem fitting your SZ screen into the SR screen chassis. :(

No the SZ150p has a LED screen, at least mine has, I also have as SZ330P (that doesn't boot any more) and that one has the thicker ugly screen.

Oh, my bad. For a moment, I thought the SZ150 has got a CCFL screen.

Anyway, since it has got a LED screen, you can probably try fitting it to a SR. The question may be the inverter board thingy attached to the bottom of the actual screen, whether the SR can recognize the screen or not. Good luck. :)

The site I posted lists different manufacturers of screens and tells which are compatible with which manufacturers' systems. Why not look up your models and see if there are cross-matches?
