    Guys,
I have finally concluded on getting the top of the line SZ machine. I have seen too many issues with the Lenovo machines - which is really strange.

None the less, my question is, should I wait for the new SZ7 range or just buy what is available right now? Price is not a barrier. I need to get the machine before the end of the month.

    Thanks,
    tos

If you can wait until the end of the month, I suggest you do so as the SZ7x series should be available then. It has already been announced by Sony. IMO, it is not a good idea to buy any current models unless they come at a significant discount as the OEMs clear legacy inventory. Since Penryn is now shipping in laptops, you really should wait for it.

Yeah but notice how the shipping date is listed as Unknown and the Penryn processors are all out of stock... Who knows when your order will end up shipping.

Besides, the "top of the line" SZ would be the SZ791N/X and that's got a shipping date of 1/29. Note that in my experience SS has delayed some shipment dates for other pre-release products so I wouldn't 100% count on them shipping out that day.

On Sony's website the release dates for all are 1/29, except for the 750 which is 2/19.

I don't like it that much type of bugs :)

I believe nonamelol is referring to the quirks with the SZ series that are not exactly defects but annoyances for some, advantages for others.

For example the keyboard is too mushy and screwed up for my taste :)

The SZ6 series brought on more weight compared to previous iterations and also had problems with the LED Screens producing yellow/black bands.

I've the SZ1M (so its called in Europe) and i'm very happy with that machine. I've upgraded it with an Core 2 Duo and 2 GB RAM and the system is running fine! My display was changed in a repair center after 5 pixels running dad. But no other problems in over one year! So i'll have to say, BUY it!
