I see that although the T2500 CPU supports 677mhz apparently the SZ BIOS only supports 533 - is this still the case or is there an updated BIOS to deal with this?

As there is not much cost difference between the two, is there any downside in installing 677 RAM instead of 533?

It seems that the 677 RAM has higher latency that 533 and wonder if the BIOS only supports 533 mhz, whether 677 RAM would default to 533 with the same latency as 533 or whether it would default to 533 but retain its higher latency, in which case the 533 might end up being better/faster??

    Any advice would be appreciated!!

667 does have higher latency in trade for the higher clock speed. If the lappy only supports 533mhz, then 667mhz will downclock to 533. Also if you have 1 667mhz stick and 1 533mhz stick in the same lappy then it will only go as fast as the lower clock speed, 533mhz. The latency would also be reduced when the clock speed is reduced, in your example 667mhz ram would run just like a 533 stick would, both speed and latency.

Thanks for your help and advice Wingsbr. As there is only about $5 difference in price, I may as well go with the 677 in case the BIOS ever gets updated to handle that speed.

    Thanks again.
