    hi,

I purchased a sony sz recently in Singapore and have a question regarding its battery, charger. If i want to use this laptop in the U.S, will i need to purchase an American charger from sony? i heard power adapters can cause problems

    thanks

If you look at the back of your power brick, you should see a whole lot of text printed on it... There will (or at least should be) a line that reads Input: 100-240v... What that means is that your charger can be used all over the world (the US uses 110volts, while other parts of the world use 220/240volts). So, yes, you can use your charger in the US.

The only thing you will need to purchase is a pin converter, which will 'convert' the metal pins that you plug into an electrical outlet to the flat, 2 pin arrangement used in the US. These should be very easy to find and very inexpensive (because no voltage conversion is required).
