It seems i made a error while disassembling my Sony SZ to fix the fan (I am out of warrenty) and i discovered a part that appears to be loose as i removed the Chassis (MG) off the motherboard. (Chassis obscured the view behind)

Does anyone else who dissassembled their SZ know what this part is and where it goes? It seems to be some sort of grey rubber padding (In the shape of a t-shirt) that needs to go inbetween a PCB or metal housing. It has sticky residue on one side.

    Any help appreicated.

I am trying to fix this one since it vibrates and the sound was driving me insane althrough i don't think its fixable. Has anyone ever purchased a Sony SZ replacement fan and installed it themselves? From the looks of it they cost around US$100 new and about US$70 refurbished. Any place cheaper?? (Sony Part 1-787-458-11 or 1-787-628-11)(MCF-523PAM05 for Fan)

Edit: All good now. Found used fans on ebay.

That's #339. It goes underneath the top right of the motherboard on the part that sticks out a little (above optical drive). Probably slipped out when you removed the main board. I can get a part number if you need it.

    Thanks for that info!

Is this the correct location or do i have to go further underneath the black cover strip to direct right of the rubber pad? (Sticky side face down)
