    Dear all,

I am considering taking the plunge with the Sony SZ. From what i read there is a lot of people having trouble with re-install the OS and drivers.

Does the Sony SZ not come with any Driver CD's?

Could someone also confirm that it comes with a windows XP cd?

    Thanks

    Darren

It does not come with CDs/DVDs in the box. You have to burn CD's from the recovery partition. These cd's contain a modified version of XP,(not necessarily a clean install) and the drivers/crap on a separate disk(s).

The process isn't that hard. Here is what I did...

Download every driver from Sony (except Chipset and Graphics)
Download the Chipset and Graphics drivers from Intel.
Install XP from a non-Sony Pro CD. (if you can get a Volume License disk you can probably use the key on the bottom your computer but I haven't tried).
Install the drivers starting with intels and finishing with Sony's.
Post here on why my Memory Stick Icon didn't work :) Got a response and fixed that prob)
Finally, run the recovery CD's to get the Battery Utility only (stamina switch etc)

LOL. I hate it when they get the end user to make the driver cds! So much easier to just provide them!

I'm an I.T engineer so it's not sweat for me, but for my mum would find it impossible.

    Thanks for clearing that up.
