Ok I just purchased the Sony SZ750 4 GB as a replacement for my TZ150 because of the bigger screen. I did not do a clean install as I did on my TZ150 rather, I manually removed the bloatware and upgraded to VISTA SP1 (Microsoft TechNet). Now I am stuck with the NVIDIA driver dated 5-17-2007 version 7.15.11.128. Is there any way to upgrade this driver? I have tried all the new NVIDIA drivers for the 8400 GS an none work. If I run the drive detect utility on the NVIDIA site it states I need to contact Sony for a new driver. I have all the new SZ drivers from the ftp://ftp.vaio-link.com/PUB/VAIO/ORIGINAL site, but they only include the Intel video driver.
The main reason for my question is that the driver is much slower than it should be on 3D apps. Any help would be appreciated

Try Windows Update first, see if they have the latest driver. If you can't see the driver listed in Windows Update, download the latest nvidia driver from here and Intel Driver from here.
You will need to manually extract the Nvidia driver before you can install. Use Universal Extractor to manually extract the driver.
let me know if the new driver makes your 3d app faster. -
Thanks for the reply. The Windows update did not work. I am trying your process now. If this does or does not work (will keep you posted), do you recommend doing a clean install on the SZ if everything is working and bloatware removed?

If you are satisfied with the performance and if the bloatware removed, I would say keep it. Doing a perfect clean install with Sony laptop could be tricky and may take significant amount of time when hunting for the drivers and utilities.

I know, I did it on my TZ150... a real time consuming pain -
Thanks hendra ... worked great speed increased 107% form the original NVIDIA driver

I am glad it works for you. I have one question though. Does the BIOS of your SZ fully support 4GB RAM? I mean, if you go to the BIOS, does it show 4GB RAM installed? I know Vista 32 bit doesn't fully utilize 4GB RAM but the BIOS should show that you have 4GB RAM and therefore VISTA 64 bit should be able to use all the RAM if you have it installed in your system.

VISTA SP1 shows the 4GB of RAM installed
(Control Panel Classic View)

[Settings]
[Controll Pannel]
[System]
Whether or not VISTA uses it is another thing. I'll post a pic soonAttached Files:

No BIOS shows 3072MB not even GB. My uploaded pic is blury ... I'll try to fix it. .... Actually the pic shows when zooming

Why do Sony still limit the BIOS support to 3GB RAM? I mean both the BIOS and the Chipset support 4GB+ RAM. Why do they still cripple it? This problem should have been fixed long time ago -
Hey,
9 times out of 10, despite all internal hardware supporting 4GB RAM, it is all controlled by the operating system. 32-bit operating systems can only address a maximum of just over 3GB of RAM, only a 64-bit operating system can use 4GB or more (a lot more)
Also, most BIOS show memory in terms of MB, so the fact that GB is not displayed is not to be concerned: 3072 MB is 3.072 GB -

My bad ... I was drinking when I responded. -
I believe this is the same driver recommended by hendra, but it is already unpacked:
ftp://ftp.vaio-link.com/PUB/VAIO/ORIGINAL/AR6_GRAPHICS_DRIVER.ZIP -
You can use unofficial Nvidia drivers.
Just go to www.laptopvideo2go.com
Download a the driver package and the modified INF they provide there
Overwrite the nvidia INF with the modified INF
Make sure you use
-Update Driver
-Browse my computer for driver software
-Let me pick a list of device drivers on my computer
-Have disk then select the modified INF
