I was looking at this SZ240P07 laptop. Just another option if I don't get the one I ordered.

Someone brought up that the SZ models comes in carbon fiber and non carbon fiber, but newegg is very vague about such stuff on the laptop. Does the above SZ model come with carbon fiber? I noticed that the SZ models in the store has the metal finish around the keyboard, I'm guessing thats the carbon fiber.

Is it easy to upgrade RAM on the SZ? 512MB DDR2 RAM is ok in my opinion, but I would like to get at least 1GB on the machine.

And whats this all about the electric shock that SZ owners are talking about? Do the older SZ models have that problem?

    Thanks.

I don't face the electric shock problem. Buy the premium version of SZ, its lighter and comes with a better finish, not sure whether it's the carbon fiber. Upgrading for 512 to 1 gb is not a problem. I had mine with 2 gb. Btw, the premium version of SZ is above some numbers, i think it starts from sz140 or something.

BUY the SZ with carbon fiber. Its the ONLY way to get the LED backlighting, which is at least 20% brighter. With 3 steps to spare, I'm as bright as the normal SZ on full brightness.
Dont worry about the electric shock. Mine has it and I forgot already that it shocks. it's minor.

It is ez to upgrade ram

I just want to say, once you open up your SZ, your warranty is void.

Thanks for the reply, just wanted to make sure all the SZ models have the magnesium/(whatever metal) case as a standard.

The RAM-SLot is not sealed, so I guess there is no warranty-lost.
And the mem-slot is easy to reach and it would be really uncommon to void the warranty for a RAM-change as long you don't have to open the case of the notebook.

No warranty is lost upgrading your RAM. In fact, when you call Sony to troubleshoot things, they often have you open this up.
