    Hello,

yesterday my Sony SZ2 (SZ2VP/X - 3years old) did an instant shutdown while running in battery mode (expect Battery around 30%).
After this I tried booting the notebook. By pressing or holding the power button no LED's illuminated.
At home I tried to charge the battery with AC adaptor. Again no LED's illuminated.
With or without AC adapter and battery - no chance to get the Sony SZ running anymore.

Because I have no longer warranty I opened the notebook with the help of a repair manual.
You can see some pics in my picasa webgallery.
At this photo the battery connecter looks strange?

Can anybody tell me, what is wrong with my notebook? Or what could be...
Where can I get a cheap repair, or some spare parts like mainboard?

The SZ was already repaired in November 2007 - it got a new Display. Power+battery LED's illuminated, but it didn't start.
Now even the LED's show nothing about the condition.

    best regards,
    Daniel Schneider

Looks like the motherboard is faulty~! If that is the case it will lost you alot of money to fix - ie. not worth fixing.

Yeah, it's your motherboard. It's too expensive to have that replaced. Might as well get a new laptop.

    Dan,

I have the exact same problem on my VGN-SZ110B which is about 3 years old. It won't charge the battery anymore, battery is completely dead. Computer would just shut off without warning of low battery. Now, even when the laptop os plugged in the wall Windows won't boot. The Sony Logo comes on and then a blank screen. I am scared!!!!!!!
