I've trying to find my Hibernation mode for the SZ for 2 days now and its' no where to be found? I've looked in all the settings under Vista and inside the Vaio Controller and even configured the 'S' buttons to Hibernate, but when I close the lid, press the S button, it just goes to STANDBYE instead. I don't want that!!

    Any help anyone? Thanks.

Open Help and type "hibernation" and it will explain all to you what happened to hibernation. :)

Wow thanks! I'm still learning this whole new Vista environment, everything is quite different.

Does it consume any more power than the good old days of "Hibernation" or is it the same? It didn't mention anything about that.

But THANK YOU so much for replying. I really need my hibernate mode. :)

I believe there is still an option to get hibernation, just read the whole thing. I'm not sure right now how. :)

As for power consumption, I believe it should be the same.

Well after trying this "sleep mode", it turns out to be some sort of "Sleep" rather than combo hibernate thing that the Vista help guide has mentioned. First thing is that the power LED just flashes orange every now and then, not good and the Wi-fi light stays on constantly. :( Not really the best power saver option there, so I'm still shutting it down.

I've looked everywhere but can't find the option for hibernate. Why is it so difficult man.

    Help.

For what it's worth, on my SZ460, hibernate is one of the available options when I click on the options next to the "Power/Shutdown" menu in the Start menu. I didn't have to do anything specific to enable it.

Thanks for your help but it says I do not have the "permission" to edit it? How do I by-pass this?

I've turned of that 'User Account Control' thing and restarted it, then I was able to set the hibernation mode back in!!

Yaaay! And it works now! So glad - cause that 'sleep' mode sucked and I hate restarting the laptop every 10mins between lecturs or something - takes too long to boot up.

Thank you lamtutu so much! Love this place. :)
