    Hi everyone,

I just bought my Sony SZ491N one week ago. I fully charge the battery when the computer is turned off, then unplug it from AC. Then I start the computer. When Vista starts, my battery is 92% left. I do not understand it. Does it take 8% of the battery to boot the Vista?

I would be very happy if you can comment on this issue.

    Thanks,

    Seckin

It makes sense to me. When you start up your computer you're sending a jolt of energy to every part of your computer to power it on. Then you add the hard drive spinning at full speed the entire time (which is 40-50 seconds with Vista) it could really eat away at your battery fast.

Also, I notice that my first 10% of battery charge dissipates much faster than the remaining battery. I'm not exactly sure why, but I think the sudden need for voltage from the parts after unplugging an AC adapter has something to do with it.
