It's been quite disappointing trying to chug my SZ650 n/c through 3dmark05 and 06...the scores are way below the dell m1330 ones (less dedicated memory really affects your performance, I guess).

Right now for example I'm getting 2100 for 3dmark05. Does anyone else have any results they'd like to share?

^ hmm, I don't even think I broke 1000 on my 3dmark06 try a few weeks ago, though I'll try again after installing a new set of drivers.

I got 2186 today in NVIDIA mode with Performance Settings. That was using 3dmark05. I have the SZ650. I have also upgraded to the last NVIDIA driver(163.44) and all the hot fixes on the NVIDIA site. I too am a little disappointed considering the review I read on this machine showed a score of 2800 with the same settings.

Quake 4 seems barely playable at 800x600 low detail.

Make sure you are in NVIDIA mode and running under High Performance settings. The review I read was quoted on the SZ650:

"In all but the most demanding games we were able to run with high resolutions and effects settings (we had to be more conservative with F.E.A.R. to get a solid 23 or better fps)."

Most current RTS games play pretty well on medium settings. I've been playing C&C3 recently and its smooth. I also have FEAR installed and if you play around with the graphic settings you can get it to look alright in-game and still be playable (mostly low/medium, a few things on high). The cinematic sequences are pretty rough though.

    ATI Tool Beta 0.27. 0.26 didn't work.

Yes, it works on the Geforce card.

I used the Rivatuner and later used it to monitor my temps, but I like ATI Tool because it has a 'find max clock' and 'find max memory speed' tool, but the biggest reason I got it is because it has a built in artifact detector. Stability seems to be alright, since the max clocks were actually around 650/820, but I lowered them after running the ATI Tool artifact detector for longer (half an hour) periods of time.

EDIT: I went to Walmart today, and they only had one of those combo boxes where it has BF2, BF2 Special forces, BF2 Armored Fury, and the other one for like, $40. Me being Chinese, I said screw it and plan on going to Best Buy tomorrow.

So yeah with XP that 3dmark score is much, much higher...especially if PhilFlow did not overclock the GPU.

XP was around 2700 and Vista about 2300. Both OS were clean installs.

How did you actually set the clock speed at anything higher than 400/600? My card looks like its locked -- did you modify the bios of the card first to allow for overclocking?

I found a guide here, but feel like its above my level of expertise:
