I recently came across this posting for Sony SZ645 model with XP Pro instead of Vista. Anyone have any more information? Checked with Sony and they don't have any info also. I currently using SZ360 and thinking of upgrading to newer model but wanting XP instead of Vista. I know that recently Sony posted a downgrade from Vista to XP notice but it seem that there r parts that still won't work in XP. Any input will greatly appreciated. Thks in advance. :)

I have never heard of that model number from Sony....and Sony should know better than anyone else what models they manufacture. Be careful!

It doesn't say that it comes with XP.

Good detective work! So there is aa SZ645. But how is it different than an SZ640? Oh, it has XP Pro instead of Vista. I sure hope Vista SP1 comes out soon to take care of some of it's issues.

from what I heard, Vista SP1 not coming out until 1st/2nd quarter of next yr. I been testing the beta version of it. It does fix some problems but still can't resolve certain issue I have for my work related software. So for now, waiting for Sony to come out with LED with XP. Will send a request to their customer feed back. Will keep everyone update on the progress if Sony response. :D

Isn't Microsoft providing a "downgrade" option to users of Vista that request it?

Yes, I'm surprised they even offered that (thanks for caving in Sony!) but now offering a notebook with XP pre-loaded? Just more blows for poor Vista!

Its your money, but I don't think you are going to notice much of an improvement going from a SZ360 to a SZ6xx with both running XP. The former is a screamer, the latter will scream a bit faster. Generally notebooks are not used for the extreme CPU intensive tasks like Video encoding where small differences show up as minutes saved.

I must say I am surprised about all the negative issues with Vista after all the hoopla with it's release. Hopefully SP1 will take care of majority of issues. What was Microsoft thinking?

    Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Yes Vista doesn't play very nicely. The SP1 in beta right now do fix certain issues but still have more to fix. So far my experience with Vista is really a useless piece of junk more of annoyance than useful software. But it's more of an eye candy. :)

thks for your input & advice. Well I'm planning to give my current laptop to my sis as her old 1 almost broken. It's a good news that Sony acknowledged with other manufactures about Vista compatibility issues. Until MS figure out way to patch Vista better, I'll still stick with XP. So far I notice that Vista is better in gaming like Crysis on my desktop com (this game rock!!!) :) . Other than that it's really a piece of junk.
