I can't imagine how you could get that pattern on a screen through damage and TFT's don't operate in a way that could cause that. DSTN would lose a single line across, but never splotchy like that (not that you have one anyhow).
If you had not said it shows when it's off I woudl have wondered if it was not a graphics card or cable that has the problem. I have never seen anything like that.
Do you have any kids?
A crayon pressed against it could do that, it might also be a marker.
The only other thing I can think of is someone running a finger down the edge with lots of pressure. Maybe a fingernail. Is it on the surface or underneath? -
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
That reminds me of my 1st Gen iPhone. It had a VERY similar pattern of unlit pixels. I say unlit, because sometimes the pattern would change, and some of the previous dark ones were lit again. Let me dig up my Apple repair bill and I'll tell you what the genius said it was, because I remember it making perfect sense when he explained it to me...

Well, at first I tought it was a stain or something that cand be washable (if that word exists).
I tried to clean with a wipe and nothing, sure it looks like stain but may be moisture? The pattern looks the same when the unit is off, so dead pixels??
XGX2007 if you have the iphone bill and explain what is this I'll really apreciate it...a new LED screen cost around 400USD...
I dont have any kids, in fact, I use this computer only at night, just to chat and check emails. I barely turn on very often.
Thanks!
