Was wondering whether the US versions of the SZ6 feature UMTS - 3G included in the WWAN option? Or does it only work on the Sprint Broadband network in the States which is a slightly different technology?

Ok, just called Sony USA and they said that if the SIM is unlocked then it should also work with a phone operator in Europe? Reckon I could trust this info or anybody here with more knowledge on the subject?

And also, any idea if it would be possible to have this as an upgrade option once an SZ has already been purchased?

In the US, is it Sprint only because the Sprint network is the only one compatible with the wwan card, or is it Sprint only because of a software lock?

I'm getting a US model SZ sent to Australia so I'm wondering if there will be any way to get it functioning. Here I think we have a similar HSDPA network to the UK.

Its only Sprint in the US for contract reasons.. thats what they offer.

Do we even have HSDPA in the US? I'm not sure. I thought we only had GSM/EDGE here. I'm prob wrong though.

This Engadget article says it has HSDPA with regards to a US model, so it must be right?

There are some older threads regarding unlocking the previous model's EDGE card, but has anyone had success unlocking the HSDPA of the sz5/6?
