Welp i did a search and couldn't find anything about it.. from the search.. perhaps iam not searching for the right things.

But what brand and type of harddrive comes stock with the sony SZ7? it says SATA, but is it sata 1.5 or sata 3.0?

I only owned 1 laptop so far, and it was a Futjisu S series (also 13.3 inch screen like this sony iam asking about)

But the harddrive and ram was fairly simple to replace on it.. all i had to do was just take 2 covers of where the 2 parts were located and simple just took out the ram or the harddrive prety simply... it might have been more simple to replace the harddrive and ram on a Fujitsu then it was to actually replacing a it from a custom build PC.

Iam ordering this sony soon... and i was wondering how hard it will be to replace the ram and harddrive? is it just as easy as a fujitsu? when i did some research i noticed the older Sony SZ series required keyboard opening and such (sounds prety difficult to do)

heres the link of the sony i plan on ordering soon:

Well, I haven't opened my Sony, no need to.
    (And then there's the warranty)

But considering that there are a few "lids" on the bottom, all screwed shut I think it should be reasonably easy to replace components.

awsome. ok i researched it alittle more.. looks like the ram will be prety simple to do.. just the harddrive which would be the problem.. but i might as well use the stock harddrive untill it it breaks. (if it breaks)

The drive is SATA 1.5. Normally both my notebook and server drives are Seagate but there have been so many complaints about their Momentus drives failing (particularly the one with the perpendicular recording) that I ultimately ended up getting a low powered Western Digital. Works great.

I also highly recommend this RAM when it's stock. $65 for Kingston 4GB of dual channel *low latency* RAM is an awesome deal. The OS won't be able to use all of it but for the price - it's hard to beat.
