I've installed all the drivers for the Chipset, Graphics , WebCam, Mouse, Intel Wireless etc. All appears well except the function keys do not work for brightness which I can adjust with the Intel graphics utility. What other functionality am I missing without the Sony applications.

Why don't you test the laptop's various functions to find out?

Did that and nothing seems broken except Fn + F5/F6 for screen control. I was trying to obtain a quick answer from this forum which has been very helpful in my 2 day quest for a bloatware free clean Vista 64 Ultimate install. I will return the the original factory hard drive and play around with Sony's utilities for a while. Thanks for the suggestion.
